Joseph F. Sullivan Center: Nursing and Wellness Clinic
During the Fall of 2015 I interned at the Joseph F. Sullivan Center on Clemson's campus. The Sullivan Center is a nurse managed clinic that offers services to Clemson employees as well as the underserved population in the surrounding area. My primary role at the Sullivan Center was to keep the clinic running smoothly by making exam rooms ready for clinical visits and taking patients back and preparing them for their visit with a provider. In addition to working with patients and providers, my secondary roles at the Sullivan Center included packing materials for off-site clinics, keeping supplies in the storage room neat and organized, and creating documents to help facilitate the packing and organizing of materials in the clinic. Public Health Determinants Affecting The Sullivan Center
At the culmination of my internship experience, I was asked to create a document that analyzed the different aspects of public health determinants that affected the type, variety, and/or need for the health services that the Sullivan Center provided for their patients. This includes the social determinants that affect the health and medical services provided, the organizational behavior of the Sullivan Center and the governance of healthcare nationally, and the way that professionalism within the workplace affects the care that is given.
